Dani Fahser-Herro

Dani Herro is a third year doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a major in Educational Communications and Technology. Her advisor is Constance Steinkuehler. She holds a BS in Elementary Education and MA in Administrative Leadership and Supervision from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has worked as a classroom teacher, technology resource teacher, and most recently as a Technology Coordinator in the Oconomowoc School District.

She works under the guidance of Kurt Squire on projects related to Augmented Reality Games and with Constance Steinkuehler examining practices in massively multiplayer online games (MMOGS) and virtual worlds. Pragmatic by nature, she is particularly interested in helping teachers and students connect relevant, motivating, engaging technology tools to complex learning. Her current research interests lie in studying how students construct and co-construct knowledge afforded by Internet technologies.

A native of Wisconsin, she still finds the winters harsh and will only downhill ski in temperatures greater than 28 degrees. In her spare time she loves to hang out with friends and family, visit large cities, or train for biathlons, running races, and mini-triathlons.
