Alex Games

Alex Games is a doctoral student in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. He holds a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico. His advisor is Kurt Squire. Prior to transferring to UW he did two years of coursework as a doctoral student in Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He also worked developing AI, Robotics and Instrumentation Systems while working as an engineer for National Instruments. Prior to that, he worked as a high-school computer science teacher where he pioneered a videogame-based learning curriculum in the 90's. He is a seasoned videogamer with more than 20 years of experience playing and designing games for education.

His research interest lies in the exploration of the development of scientific thinking skills and habits (systems-level thinking, problem-solving, self-regulation) through the use of videogames and simulations in the classroom. The real love of his life however, are his two children, Artie and Nico (soon to arrive), and his wife Sarah.
